How to prepare in the last 100 days for GATE Exam
Hi friends, this post is a bit different from my other previous articles. In this post I will be sharing my thoughts on how you can prepare for the upcoming GATE exam in 2022. GATE Exam is one of the toughest exams in India, but it is also one such exams that can be cleared with right preparation.
This article shares 3 important tips for the next three months. Maybe many of you are final year students and you will be having exams of your semester also in the coming months, so you will have to manage multiple things. But these 3 months will also be testing you ability of how you going to manage and focus your time on different things. In these multiple things your main priority is the GATE Exam preparation and it should your main focus and rest of the things should be balanced out simultaneously.
I’m going to talk about different things that you should be focusing on different months so that you understand where you are and what you need to primarily do at that moment.
So we are having November, December and January after which February you will be giving your GATE examination, so you must make a plan to manage your all the different tasks along with the preparation. So let’s get started.
Last 3 Month Strategy
November Strategy
Your main focus in the month of November should be focusing on subject-wise tests, if you have not started it already; well then this is the time get started you cannot delay it any further.
You must start subject-wise test in November because you won’t be getting time for that in December or January. In those months your focus should be of Full-length tests series. Along with that as soon as you complete a subject, you should do your revisions for that subject as well.
November Goal- Start giving subject-wise tests
December Strategy
So this is the month where you will be starting to give full-length tests. You must start giving full-length tests from the first week and find your weaknesses. Find out your weaknesses, whether it is from a subject or a full length test.
Note down your weaknesses and start working on them to improve your performance and do your best in the test. There may be some of the minor subjects in which you are not fully prepared; such subjects can become your weakness in the exam. So you should start preparation for such subjects as well.
December Focus- Find your weaknesses
January Strategy
In the last remaining month of January, you will be starting your final revisions and your main focus should be PRACTICE. The more you practice the more you become perfect. In the exam you will be tested with your ability of solving numerical that requires a lot of practice.
With continuous practicing and simultaneously giving Full-length and subject-wise test series you will have to analysis the whole test. Based on your performance, evaluate on your own what are your weak points, what are the mistakes you are making repeatedly.
January Focus: Practice, Practice and Practice
Planning for different aspirants
Assuming you have already completed 80-95% of your whole syllabus or you have been preparing from the last 8-10 months, it would be suggested that you now look for the questions from GATE engineering services like PSU, ISRO and other previous examination like civil-service exams used to have lot of technical questions. You can practice from those questions and prepare yourself which will boost your confidence even more.
If you are someone who didn’t prepared at all and going to start now and totally depend upon these last 3 months, you would be suggested to start looking video tutorials online because learning through books is not going to complete your syllabus at all.
Practice from the previous year question papers, lookout for online videos on YouTube for tutorials and doubts.

Some other tips
-
Know the marks distribution: You should know which subject is the most important and carries the most marks and plan accordingly. There are people who cracked the GATE Exam with very low knowledge in few subjects. That is they did not fully prepare the whole syllabus and left out few subjects which they knew are not going to affect much.

If you think that completing few subject is not possible then make a plan on how you can complete at least few.
-
Make a routine and a plan: Since only 3 months are remaining, you should make a daily routine on how you are going to utilize your whole day. So to manage your others tasks and also your main focus, practicing the syllabus.
Start waking up early and do preparation in the early morning. Give subject-wise and full-length test during the day and prepare your minor subjects. And in the night, revise what you learn and plan what you are going to do the next day.
-
Previous year questions: You must practice previous years questions, do not look for the whole 20 years papers from the past, but practice from last 6-8 years question papers. That would be enough for you to practice if you can invest your 2-3 hours of the day.
Also if you manage to find some time then you must solve previous year questions from ISRO. Solve question from last 10 years of ISRO, as these exams used to have questions that were of 1 mark and some of these questions have been given in GATE exams as well. So practicing these questions will also help you. But this only recommended to those who have completed their syllabus.
Few things to know about GATE 2022 Exam
The time GATE 2022 exams are going to be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Well variation is always there in the GATE exams. But this time GATE exam might be different from the previous Gate exams, here is why- Many PSUs have now broken their link from GATE, they are conducting their own exams. So the perspective of GATE exams is now changed. Earlier Aspirants used to appear for exam mainly for Jobs but this time many aspirants are confused whether there is any chance of getting a job from GATE exams. So this year GATE exam is very much suitable for those who are currently doing masters and are in final year.
